Safety Considerations for Plate Heat Exchanger Design

During the process, there are some safety considerations you should notice:
1. Design specifications. The design specifications of heat exchangers include the types of working fluid and flow, import and export temperature, working pressure and heat exchanger efficiency. Aerospace heat exchangers should also include permissible pressure drop, size and quality.
2. Overall arrangement. First you should choose the type and structure of heat exchangers, the form of fluid flow and the materials, and then choose the type of heat surface, to consider the operating temperature and pressure, etc.
3. Heat design. The thermal design of the heat exchanger includes heat transfer calculation, flow calculation and determination of size. In addition to technical performance indicators, thermal design also need heat transfer characteristics (including heat transfer characteristics, flow characteristics and structural parameters) and fluid and material thermal activity parameters. According to the design goal, for the selected variety of forms and heat transfer surfaces, through different angles to optimize the analysis, provide centralized options.
4. Structure design.

(5) Consider requirements of maintenance (including cleaning, repair and maintenance, etc.) and shipping.
For some heat exchangers operating under special conditions, it is also need to calculate the thermal stress during start-up and stop periods, calculate structural vibrations due to fluid flow, or calculate flow rates to reduce corrosion and structure. In short, structural design and thermal design are same important, the design of heat exchangers need to be considered two or more things, and should be coordinated

5. Design choice. After complete the thermal design and structural design of the heat exchangers, provide options, and then based on the evaluation criteria make decisions. The conditions of the selection are qualitative, such as mold manufacturing conditions, brazing furnace size, transport restrictions, delivery date, company policy and competitive strength, which all will affect the final choice.
